MARTIN CORBRIDGE SHOLING PENSIONER DANGEROUSLY POSING RISK TO CHILDREN AFTER DOWNLOAD OF 27,000 VILE IMAGES

In a case that has shocked the community of Sholing and the wider Southampton area, Martin Corbridge, a 68-year-old pensioner, was found to have amassed an alarming collection of indecent images involving children. The authorities uncovered that Corbridge had downloaded more than 27,000 disturbing pictures depicting the sexual abuse of minors, some as young as three years old.

Corbridge’s arrest was initiated when police officers visited his residence on Drove Road, Sholing, as part of ongoing investigations into his activities. The police were acting on information that Corbridge, who was registered as a sex offender, had accessed a website linked to child exploitation. During the investigation, it was revealed that although Corbridge had deleted some of the images, the police forensic teams were able to trace the history of his online activity, confirming the extent of his possession of these vile images.

At the city crown court, Corbridge pleaded guilty to 16 charges of making indecent images. His admission came after a thorough examination of the evidence, which painted a disturbing picture of his online behavior. The prosecution, led by Bernice Mulvaney, detailed the severity of the case, emphasizing the large volume of material involved and the nature of the images.

Judge Peter Henry delivered the sentence, condemning Corbridge for his actions and the significant risk he posed to children. The court sentenced him to 30 months in prison. Additionally, Corbridge was subjected to a sexual offenders prevention order, which imposes strict restrictions on his internet usage and prohibits him from contacting or having unsupervised access to any minors under the age of 17. During the sentencing, Judge Henry expressed his grave concerns about Corbridge’s motives and the nature of his offenses. He described Corbridge’s actions as driven by a desire for sexual gratification, noting that Corbridge had been “enthusiastically” seeking out such images. The judge pointed out that the images involved a revolving and degrading pattern of abuse, and he did not accept Corbridge’s claims of innocence or lack of sexual arousal from viewing the material.
