MARLEY WATT'S BRUTAL CRIMES IN STIRLING: DOMESTIC ABUSER ESCAPES FURTHER PUNISHMENT
A violent individual involved in domestic abuse avoided further punishment despite being under social work supervision for several months.Marley Watt attacked his former partner by choke-holding her until she lost consciousness, and he threatened her with a knife against her neck while striking a wall nearby using an axe.
Previously, a jury convicted him of abusing his ex-partner in Stirling, covering the period from April 2021 to September 2022.
The 19-year-old was found guilty of verbal aggression and of trying to isolate her from friends, family, or educational opportunities.
His convictions also included slapping her, pressing a knife to her neck, and striking her with multiple objects including a metal brush, grinder, mobile phone, and shoe.
He restrained her in a headlock and applied pressure to her throat, causing her to become unconscious.
The jury also found him guilty of threatening her and her family with death, hitting a wall with an axe, biting her hand, and sending threatening messages.
Sheriff Derek Hamilton remarked that he did not need to consult Watt’s solicitor after reviewing background documents.
Addressing Watt, who lives at Cultenhove Place, he stated: “While the charge was greatly reduced, it still contained serious elements, particularly the compression of the throat causing loss of consciousness.
Given your age, the positive assessments received, and the overall context, the decision is that no additional oversight is required.
Remarkably, you are being admonished.” An admonition signifies that although a criminal record exists, no further penalties will be applied.
