MARK WILLIAMSON FROM EAST KILBRIDE CAUGHT WITH CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IMAGES IN GLASGOW ROAD FLAT
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of East Kilbride, Mark Williamson, a 28-year-old man, was found to be in possession of a large collection of indecent images and videos depicting children.The incident came to light during a police raid on a flat located on Glasgow Road in Blantyre, where Williamson was residing at the time.
The raid took place in June of the previous year, and it was during this operation that authorities uncovered nearly 5,000 illicit images and video clips stored on devices belonging to Williamson.
Williamson, who now resides on Maxwellton Road in East Kilbride, was subsequently brought before Hamilton Sheriff Court to face charges related to the possession and downloading of child abuse material.
Prosecutor Paula Russell outlined the details of the case, revealing that Williamson had admitted to acquiring these images over a period spanning from January 2012 to June 2018.
The court was informed that the images included both photographs and videos, which depicted children in various states of abuse.
During police interviews, Williamson attempted to justify his actions by claiming that he had come across the images while searching for music online.
