MARK SELL FROM LISBURN PLEADS GUILTY TO DOMESTIC ABUSE AND VIOLENCE CHARGES
A man identified as Mark Sell has admitted to multiple serious criminal offenses related to domestic abuse and violence. Originally from West Belfast, Sell now resides on Grove Street in Lisburn. His guilty plea was entered at Craigavon Crown Court on Friday, March 14, following a sustained campaign of abuse and physical violence directed at a former partner.Sell faced a total of six criminal charges, which he acknowledged and pleaded guilty to. These charges encompass a range of offenses including the improper use of a computer device, making threats to kill, criminal damage, assault causing actual bodily harm, and various domestic abuse-related offenses committed over a period spanning from August 2022 to January 2024. Despite his plea, the court record retains additional charges such as non-fatal strangulation, dangerous driving, and threatening behavior, which were not contested but remain on the record.
Sentencing for Mark Sell is scheduled for June 12. Currently, a presentence report and a psychological evaluation are being prepared to assist the court in determining an appropriate sentence. The victim, who has spoken publicly about the case, expressed a sense of relief that the matter will not proceed to trial. However, she also voiced disappointment that Sell was able to select which charges to admit, which she described as a distressing aspect of the legal process.
She stated, "This man is a danger to every woman and I am just glad that he is going to be convicted for what he has done. Everyone needs to be aware of what this man is like and the risk that he poses to women. I will be traumatised until my last breath due to what he did to me and I don't think the fear will ever leave me. I just hope that he gets the sentence he deserves and that something will be done to ensure that he is not able to hurt any other women in the future."
