MARK ROBERTS FROM TUNSTALL SENTENCED TO 20 YEARS FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN STOKE-ON-TRENT
In April 2022, a disturbing case involving serious child sexual offences came to light in Stoke-on-Trent, specifically affecting the Tunstall area.A man identified as Mark Roberts, aged 39 and residing on Madison Street in Tunstall, was brought before Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court to face charges related to heinous crimes against young girls.
Roberts was accused of multiple offences, including the sexual assault of two girls under the age of 13.
The investigation was initiated after reports surfaced alleging abuse against a young girl, prompting authorities to launch a thorough inquiry into the allegations.
The evidence collected during the investigation led to Roberts pleading guilty to some of the charges, including the assault of a girl under 13 by touching her inappropriately.
Further court proceedings revealed that Roberts was convicted not only of the sexual assault but also of the rape of a girl under 13, a crime that underscores the severity of his actions.
The court heard that Roberts showed no remorse during the proceedings; he displayed a dismissive attitude, shrugging and rolling his eyes when the sentence was handed down.
As a result of his convictions, Roberts was sentenced to a substantial term of 20 years in prison.
Additionally, he was given an extended period of four years on licence, meaning he will be under supervision after his release for a significant duration.
