May 2023 Stoke-on-Trent teen from strict family filmed himself raping schoolboy A Stoke-on-Trent teenager has been locked up after filming himself raping a schoolboy.  Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard Rohan Adil carried out his horrific sex crimes against the defenceless child. His offending came to light after Staffordshire Police received a tip-off from the National Crime Agency after he shared photos with like-minded paedophiles online. An investigation found that Adil, now aged 18, also had hundreds of indecent images of children on his phone and laptop. Now Adil has been sentenced to 28 months detention in a young offenders’ institution. Prosecutor Jonathan Dickinson said: “Staffordshire Police received intelligence from the National Crime Agency that an email address associated to Adil was using a social media account to share images of child sexual abuse and was also using a private messaging service to discuss the sexual abuse of a child.” The court heard Adil was arrested at his then home address in Dresden on September 6, 2021. His mobile and laptop were seized. Mr Dickinson said: “The laptop was subject to a forensic examination and a Telegram social media account was discovered on the device. It was apparent he was engaging in a live chat with other Telegram users.” He said Adil and the other users exchanged indecent videos at category A, B and C, where A is the worst. Mr Dickinson said: “Adil also described raping a boy when he was aged 15. There was a video uploaded by Adil of him raping the boy. A second video showed him raping the victim. “The laptop and mobile contained multiple indecent images of children at category A, B and C.” Mr Dickinson added that the laptop contained five prohibited images and the analysis showed that a large number of indecent images were distributed – 156 category A; 59 category B and 47 category C. The court heard Adil uploaded a category B indecent image on Snapchat on July 12, 2022, the day before he was due to appear at court in relation to the other 16 charges. Adil, of Clandon Avenue, Tunstall, pleaded guilty to two charges of raping a child under 13; two charges of producing an indecent photograph; five charges of making indecent photographs of children; one charge of possession of a prohibited image of a child; six charges of distributing indecent images of children; and making an indecent image of a child. Judge Hancox said: “You come from a strict family. The offending may have been, in part, sexual experimentation. “Your family, appalled and troubled though they must be, stand ready to support you and assist you. That’s important as so many who come before these courts have lost the comfort of their family’s love and care. “The offences you have committed are so serious only an immediate period of detention would be justified. It is so grave that only it can only be marked by a sentence of detention.” The judge made Adil the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for 10 years and he was placed on the sex offenders’ register for the same period.
