MARK PRICE FROM CARDIFF CAUGHT WITH 600 BESTIALITY IMAGES IN SHOCKING CASE
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Cardiff, a man identified as Mark Price, aged 59, was found to possess an alarming collection of over 600 explicit images depicting bestiality.The incident came to light during a police investigation that initially targeted Price for an unrelated matter, leading authorities to conduct a thorough search of his residence.
On December 12, 2020, police executed a search warrant at Price's home in Cardiff, specifically in the area of Pant Glas, Pentwyn.
During the search, officers seized a laptop and a hard drive, which were subsequently examined by cybercrime specialists.
The forensic analysis uncovered a total of 639 images related to bestiality, all of which had been downloaded onto his devices.
Further investigation revealed that these images had been accessed over an eight-month period, from April to December 2020.
The devices also contained internet search histories that indicated the nature of the material being sought.
Despite the evidence, Price initially denied any involvement in downloading the images, claiming that other members of his household were responsible for the illegal content.
However, during police interviews, he later admitted to possessing the images, accepting responsibility for the downloads.
It was noted during the court proceedings that Price had a prior conviction for indecent assault in 2011, which resulted in a two-year prison sentence and a subsequent ten-year registration on the sex offenders' register.
Representing himself in court, solicitor-advocate Derrick Gooden emphasized that Price now acknowledged his guilt and clarified that none of the images involved children.
He also pointed out that, under current laws, Price would not be required to continue signing the sex offenders' register, given the specifics of his case.
Judge Jeremy Jenkins addressed the court, highlighting the defendant's initial denial and attempt to shift blame onto others, including his own household members.
The judge acknowledged Price's subsequent acceptance of full responsibility and noted the feelings of shame and guilt that are common among sexual offenders.
In sentencing, Price received an 18-month community order.
Additionally, he was mandated to complete 180 hours of unpaid work, participate in a 30-day rehabilitation activity program, and pay court costs amounting to £500.
The case has raised serious concerns about the possession and distribution of extreme pornography within the Cardiff area, emphasizing the importance of ongoing vigilance and enforcement against such offenses.
