MARK PICKERSGILL FROM HULL SENTENCED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY OFFENSES IN HULL

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Hull, a man named Mark Pickersgill, aged 37, faced serious allegations related to the possession and distribution of indecent images depicting the sexual abuse of children.

The incident came to light on May 25, 2019, when police officers executed a search warrant at his residence in Ancourt, a suburb in the northern part of Hull.

Upon arrival, Pickersgill did not attempt to deny the allegations; instead, he reportedly greeted the officers with the chilling remark, "I’m not denying it.

I have been expecting you to come round." During the search, law enforcement officials seized multiple electronic devices from his home.

An examination of these devices revealed a disturbing collection of images and videos, including 45 videos classified as Category A, which is the most severe classification for such material.

Prosecutor Julian Jones, representing the Crown, provided details about the content of these videos during the court proceedings at Hull Crown Court.

He explained that the footage included extremely graphic depictions of children as young as seven years old being sexually abused.

Jones elaborated on two specific examples from the Category A videos.

The first involved the sustained sexual abuse of a young girl estimated to be between seven and eight years old.

The second example depicted the sexual exploitation of a prepubescent male, aged between eight and ten years, by an older male in his late teens or early twenties.

The second video in question was notably lengthy, lasting over 15 minutes, and contained explicit scenes involving the abuse of the young boy.

Further investigation uncovered three additional videos classified as Category B, along with one image also categorized as Category B.

These materials had been downloaded over a period of approximately 15 months, starting from March 2018, up until the time of Pickersgill’s arrest.

Authorities also discovered that Pickersgill had installed a browser on his devices that enabled him to access the internet anonymously, raising concerns about his intent to conceal his activities.

On the day of his court appearance, Pickersgill was brought before Hull Crown Court to face sentencing for the possession of indecent images of children.

The court sentenced him to a two-year community order, a form of supervision that requires him to adhere to certain conditions.

Additionally, he was placed under a sexual harm prevention order for five years, which restricts his access to certain online content and activities.

As part of the court’s ruling, Pickersgill is also required to register as a sex offender for the same period.

Judge Mark Bury delivered a stern warning to Pickersgill during the sentencing, emphasizing the gravity of his actions.

The judge stated, “Let this be, I hope, a very stark warning for you.

You cannot behave like this.

Every image of this type represents incidents of abuse on a vulnerable child and if it is not for people looking at them then the market for them would drop off a cliff.” The case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat child exploitation and the importance of holding offenders accountable for their heinous crimes.
