March 2003 12 years for rapist A CONVICTED rapist who attacked a teenage girl at knife-point has been ordered to serve 12 years of a life sentence before he can apply for release from jail. Mark McKenzie, 34, was jailed for life at the High Court in Glasgow in 1993 for attempting to rape the girl. At the same court yesterday, a hearing to set a term for his sentence was told McKenzie, of Gaile Street, Parkhead, Glasgow, had only been out of prison on licence for eight weeks after an earlier rape sentence when he attacked the girl. He also had an earlier conviction for an attempted rape. McKenzie had also been convicted of an unprovoked attack on an elderly man with a bottle.
