MARK KENNY FROM FLEET AND MINEHEAD CAUGHT WITH CHILDREN AT BUTLINS CAMP

In a disturbing incident that unfolded at a popular holiday destination, a convicted sex offender was apprehended at a Butlins camp while in the company of five children. The individual in question, Mark Kenny, aged 28, has a troubling criminal history that includes a three-year imprisonment for a sexual assault involving an underage girl.

According to court records, Kenny had recently moved into the residence of a woman and her children following his release from prison. The group consisted of the woman, her daughters aged 12, eight, and three, as well as her sons, aged four and just eight months old. The presence of Kenny with these children raised immediate concerns, especially given his criminal background.

The authorities traced Kenny to Minehead, Somerset, in August, where he was found during a police operation. The police investigation revealed that Kenny had failed to comply with the conditions of his release by not informing the authorities of his new living arrangements. This breach of his release conditions led to his arrest and subsequent court proceedings.

At Weymouth Magistrates’ Court, Kenny, who hails from Fleet, Hampshire, pleaded guilty to the charge of breaching his release conditions. Specifically, he admitted to not notifying the police about his cohabitation with the woman and her children, which was a mandatory requirement for someone in his position.

In light of his guilty plea, the court sentenced Kenny to a three-month jail term, suspended for a period of time. This means that while he was given a custodial sentence, he will not serve time in prison unless he commits another offence during the suspension period. The case has once again highlighted the ongoing concerns regarding the monitoring and management of convicted sex offenders, especially those with a history of offenses involving minors.
