MARK JALES AND WELLS CHURCH PAEDOPHILE RING: SHOCKING REVELATIONS OF SEX ABUSE AND CUSTODY FRAUD IN SOUTH LONDON AND WELLS

In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the communities of Wells and South London, Mark Jales, also known as Mark Grayson, has been linked to a long history of child abuse and recent attempts to manipulate the legal system for personal gain.

Jales, a 54-year-old former funeral director from Wells, has a criminal past that includes being part of a notorious paedophile ring operating in Sydenham, South London, during the late 1970s and 1980s. This ring targeted young choirboys aged between seven and 14, grooming them with alcohol, gifts, and pornography before subjecting them to sexual abuse. The victims, many of whom were pupils at St. Bartholomew’s Primary School and members of the church choir, were exploited over a span of nearly a decade.

One of the ring members, Jales, was convicted in 2014 of indecent assault related to his activities during that period. He was sentenced to a year in prison for his crimes, which involved grooming and abusing choirboys while working as a hearse driver for a funeral home in Sydenham. Despite his conviction, Jales has continued to involve himself in activities that raise serious concerns about his intentions and the safety of children.

Following his release from prison, Jales changed his surname to Grayson and established a legal support service in Rochester, Kent, called Graysons Legal. This firm offers assistance to parents involved in custody disputes, charging around £300 for services as a McKenzie Friend—an aide who does not require formal legal qualifications.

Jales, now operating under his new name, claims he is helping parents to regain contact with their children in family court cases. A testimonial from a client reportedly states, “Wow! I couldn’t believe it when I got my daughter back in my life and all thanks to the hard work you put in. Once again, a big heartfelt thank you.”

However, critics and concerned observers have expressed outrage and suspicion about his motives. A source close to the case remarked, “He’s put himself in a position of trust by claiming he can help parents get their children back. But what about the kids whose lives his gang has ruined? It’s disgusting.”

Jales admitted that he changed his surname to avoid detection and to facilitate the launch of his law firm approximately 18 months ago. He insists that police are fully aware of his activities and that he does not have direct contact with children. Jales also claims that his conviction was based on a “technicality” and has announced plans to relocate to Spain, where he intends to cease working in law.

In addition to his legal endeavors, exclusive information from our database reveals that Jales is offering private English lessons via Skype to foreign students, further demonstrating his ongoing involvement in various activities.

Meanwhile, the earlier criminal case from September 2014 sheds light on Jales’s past as a funeral director in Wells, where he was implicated in a child abuse scandal. He was sentenced to 12 months after being convicted of indecent assault committed in the late 1970s and 1980s, during which he worked as a hearse driver for H Copeland & Sons funeral home in Sydenham. The abuse involved four young boys, aged from seven to 14, who were groomed with alcohol, pornography, and other manipulative tactics.

The victims’ families remained unaware of the abuse until decades later, when one of the boys came forward to report the crimes. The other men involved in the ring included Phillip Tuffill, Timothy Fuller, Robert Lawty, and Ian Coulthart, all of whom received prison sentences ranging from three and a half to 14 years. Gerald Heather was acquitted of all charges.

Judge Jeremy Gold QC, presiding over the case at Croydon Crown Court, condemned the defendants for their gross abuse of power and the lasting damage inflicted on the victims. The court heard how the ring members, trusted by the community and connected to the church, used their positions to groom and exploit vulnerable boys for years.

Jales’s involvement in the Wells funeral business ended in October 2013 when his company went bankrupt amid allegations of questionable business practices raised by the Diocese of Bath and Wells and other funeral directors. Since then, he has been involved in various ventures, including counseling and alcohol treatment programs in Wells and Castle Cary.

As investigations continue, the full extent of Jales’s activities and the impact of his past crimes remain a matter of grave concern for authorities and the public alike, highlighting the ongoing fight against child abuse and exploitation in the UK.
