MARK HENDERSON FROM CAMBRIDGE ESCAPES JAIL AFTER POSSESSING OVER 4000 CHILD INDECENT IMAGES AND TAKING PHOTOGRAPH OF YOUNG GIRL
In a case that has shocked the local community of Cambridge, Mark Henderson, a 38-year-old resident of Hampden Gardens, has been found guilty of possessing an alarming number of indecent images of children and for taking an inappropriate photograph of a young girl.Despite the severity of his actions, Henderson was handed a relatively lenient sentence during his appearance at Cambridge Crown Court on August 10.
Henderson pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children and one count of taking an indecent photograph of a child.
The court was informed that he would serve a 12-month prison sentence, which was suspended for two years, meaning he will not immediately go to jail but will be under supervision for that period.
Additionally, he was ordered to complete a 40-day rehabilitation activity requirement and perform 150 hours of unpaid community service.
To further prevent any future misconduct, Henderson was subjected to a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) that will remain in effect for 15 years.
This order is designed to restrict his access to certain online content and prevent him from engaging in similar behavior again.
Prosecutor Stephen Mather provided details of the case, revealing that Henderson had admitted to possessing indecent images of children during a session with a social worker in August of the previous year.
According to Mather, Henderson disclosed to the social worker that he possessed these images, which led to police involvement.
When authorities searched his residence, they discovered multiple electronic devices containing a total of 4,058 indecent images of children.
These images were categorized into different levels of severity: 4,006 were classified as category C, 82 as category B, and three as the most serious, category A.
During police interviews, Henderson confessed to searching the internet for such images, saving them onto his computer, and copying them onto various storage devices.
The court was also told that Henderson took a photograph of a young girl, estimated to be between five and six years old, using his mobile phone.
In his police statement, Henderson admitted that he might have derived sexual gratification from taking the photograph and claimed that he had fallen in love with the young girl.
He expressed a desire to turn his life around, but his actions have left a lasting impact on the community and the victims involved.
