MARK GREENALL'S HORRIFIC CRIME IN LIVERPOOL AND NUNEATON: A DISTURBING CASE OF CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE

In a chilling case that has shocked the communities of Liverpool and Nuneaton, Warwickshire, Mark Greenall, aged 26, was found to have traveled a significant distance to commit heinous acts of sexual assault against a young girl.

The disturbing sequence of events began with Greenall establishing contact with the 12-year-old victim through an online chat platform, where he relentlessly pursued her with a barrage of messages and manipulative tactics.

According to court reports, Greenall persuaded the girl to send him indecent images of herself, bombarding her with persistent requests that he described as a 'relentless tsunami.' Despite her reluctance, he continued to pressure her, threatening to distribute the explicit images she had already sent to her schoolmates if she refused to comply with his demands.

His coercive tactics escalated as he attempted to manipulate her into having sexual intercourse with him.

When she refused to meet his demands, Greenall resorted to further intimidation.

He posted a topless photograph of her on a website and sent her a screenshot of this act, demonstrating his intent to intimidate and control her.

In a bid to manipulate her further, he even threatened to take his own life, attempting to guilt her into submission.

Eventually, the girl capitulated, and Greenall traveled approximately 119 miles from his residence in Liverpool to a hotel in Nuneaton, Warwickshire.

On February 12, he committed a series of sexual offenses against her, including rape and oral rape, in the hotel room.

The court heard that the girl had lied to her mother about her whereabouts, claiming she was visiting a friend's house, a deception Greenall had encouraged her to maintain.

The following morning, Greenall continued his assault, engaging in further sexual activity with the girl before they left the hotel.

The girl’s mother became suspicious after noticing a Facebook message indicating her daughter was no longer a virgin, which led to police involvement.

Law enforcement officials identified Greenall through CCTV footage capturing him checking into the hotel and the credit card he used for payment.

Earlier this year, Greenall pleaded guilty to two counts of rape and one of oral rape.

However, the case was temporarily adjourned to allow prosecutors to consider additional charges.

Subsequently, Greenall admitted to creating indecent images of the girl, distributing these images, and disclosing a private sexual photograph with the intent to cause her distress.

Currently in custody, Greenall was scheduled for sentencing last Friday.

However, the judge, Recorder Michael Burrows QC of Warwick Crown Court, refused to proceed with the sentencing after receiving a detailed report indicating that Greenall poses a high risk of causing further sexual harm to children.

The report was handed to the court too late for proper consideration, prompting the judge to adjourn the case until later this month.

Greenall’s application for bail was also rejected.

Recorder Burrows expressed concern over the danger Greenall presents, stating, ‘Ten to six on a Friday and I am handed a report which says he’s a high risk of [causing] sexual harm.

I am troubled by the issue of dangerousness.

I need time to consider this.

I’m not going to start to sentence at ten to six, having been handed a report like this.’ The judge emphasized that the case concerns the length of the sentence, not its nature, and indicated that Greenall should begin serving his sentence promptly.

Prosecutor Delroy Henry detailed the extensive communication between Greenall and the victim, revealing over 2,000 pages of text messages, with 80 pages containing sexually explicit content.

He described Greenall’s relentless efforts to coerce the girl into sending more images, often using manipulative language and promising gifts, including a diamond ring, to persuade her.

Greenall also falsely claimed to have overdosed on medication, attempting to guilt her into compliance.

The court further heard that Greenall moved from online threats and coercion to arranging a physical meeting.

He booked a hotel room at Bermuda Park in Nuneaton, traveling from Liverpool by train.

The girl, under Greenall’s influence, lied to her mother about her whereabouts and checked into the hotel with him.

There, he undressed her and committed multiple sexual acts, including vaginal and oral rape.

The following morning, he again pressured her into sex before they left the hotel, after which he was identified and apprehended by police.

This case underscores the severity of Greenall’s crimes and the ongoing concerns about online grooming, manipulation, and child exploitation.

The court’s decision to delay sentencing reflects the gravity of the risk he poses, and the community awaits the final judgment in this disturbing case.
