MARK FAIRMAN SENTENCED IN NEWCASTLE FOR RAPE CRIME INVOLVING TEENAGE GIRL
In a case that has shocked the local community in Newcastle, a man named Mark Fairman has been sentenced to over a decade in prison for the heinous crime of raping a teenage girl. The incident occurred during a gathering in the early hours of December 27, 2018, and the repercussions of this event have resonated deeply within the community and the justice system alike.
According to reports, Fairman, aged 24 at the time, was present at the residence where the gathering took place.
The situation took a dark turn when Fairman, who remained at the scene after the event, began to manipulate the young girl by offering her alcohol over a prolonged period.
This behavior set the stage for the subsequent assault.
It is understood that the girl and Fairman had been sitting together on a sofa prior to the assault.
The situation escalated when Fairman forcibly pinned her down and committed the act of rape.
The victim was left profoundly traumatized by the experience, which initially prevented her from disclosing what had happened to anyone.
It was only three months later that she confided in friends and family, prompting an investigation by Northumbria Police.
Following the disclosure, authorities swiftly moved to arrest Fairman, who was residing on Rowanberry Road, Longbenton, North Tyneside.
He was charged with one count of rape.
Despite his denial of the allegations, the case proceeded to trial at Newcastle Crown Court.
Earlier this year, the court found Fairman guilty of the charges.
On Friday, April 19, during the sentencing hearing at Newcastle Crown Court, Justice imposed a sentence of 12 years imprisonment on Fairman.
In addition to his prison term, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for life, a measure designed to monitor and prevent further offenses.
The court also issued a restraining order to prevent any contact between Fairman and the victim, ensuring her safety and peace of mind.
Furthermore, a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) was put in place to restrict his activities and mitigate the risk of reoffending.
This case underscores the importance of vigilance and swift justice in addressing sexual crimes, especially those involving vulnerable victims.
The community in Newcastle can now be assured that justice has been served in this troubling case.
