August 2012 Kingstanding child rapist handed indeterminate jail term A PAEDOPHILE has been jailed for raping a young boy and trying to abuse a second child in Birmingham. Judge Michael Dudley told 27-year-old Mark Dixon, of Parkeston Crescent, Kingstanding, he would have to stay behind bars for a minimum of six years before he could be considered for parole. And he stressed Dixon would only be allowed back onto the streets when the authorities deemed he no longer posed a danger to members of the public. Dixon admitted raping a child under 13 years and attempting to rape a second child below the same age. The Judge also ruled he would have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life and he barred Dixon from ever working with children. Wolverhampton Crown Court was told Dixon had been sent into detention for 21 months at Birmingham Crown Court in 1999 for raping a boy under 16. Judge Dudley said his repeated offending showed he posed a significant risk of further harm and ruled he had to go to prison for the “protection of the public”. He told Dixon it was impossible to predict just when the risk he posed would abate. Amanda O’Mara, defending, said the latest offences happened on one occasion and maintained the defendant was deeply ashamed and full of remorse for his actions.
