PETERHEAD MAN WARNED FOR SEXUAL COMMENT TO TEEN GIRL IN PUB
A man named Mark Davidson, aged 55, has been issued a warning after making inappropriate sexual remarks to a 17-year-old girl inside the Cross Keys Wetherspoon bar in Peterhead on September 8 of the previous year.The court was informed that Davidson, who is unemployed, was present in the pub around 3 pm when he attempted to compliment the girl, stating that her legs were the only reason he kept visiting the establishment.
The girl found his comment uncomfortable and complained to staff.
In response, Davidson became hostile, accusing other patrons of being 'nonces' and shouting loudly, including making remarks directed at Australian visitors, claiming he attended the pub primarily to see the girl's legs and commenting on her short skirt.
Sheriff Annella Cowan presided over the case and warned Davidson that he would face jail for three months if he did not demonstrate good behavior within this period.
The court also heard that Davidson admitted under police caution that he had told the girl she had lovely legs and believed he was entitled to comment because she was wearing a short skirt.
The sheriff deferred sentencing until August and emphasized that remarks of this nature are simply not tolerated and could result in imprisonment if repeated.
