MARK COOPER FROM WOOLWICH JAILED FOR SEXUAL PREDATION IN MILTON KEYNES

In a disturbing case that highlights the ongoing threat of online grooming and child exploitation, Mark Cooper, a 35-year-old resident of Woolwich, has been sentenced to two years in prison following his arrest and subsequent conviction for serious sexual offences.

Cooper's criminal activities came to light after a lengthy period of online communication with a 13-year-old girl, which spanned over three months starting from November 2015. During this time, he engaged in inappropriate conversations and ultimately arranged to meet the young girl in person, with the apparent intention of sexually abusing her.

The case took a significant turn in February when officers from the National Crime Agency (NCA) intercepted Cooper as he traveled from Woolwich to Milton Keynes, expecting to meet the girl. His plans were thwarted when law enforcement officials arrested him at the scene. During the investigation, authorities uncovered that Cooper had booked a hotel room in Milton Keynes, specifically for the purpose of carrying out the abuse.

Further evidence was uncovered when authorities examined his mobile device, revealing illegal images of children. This discovery led to additional charges, including making indecent images of children. In June, Cooper was formally charged with attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming and with possessing illegal images.

At the Old Bailey, Cooper pleaded guilty to two sexual offences, which resulted in his sentencing to two years in prison. His conviction underscores the serious nature of his crimes and the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat child exploitation and protect vulnerable minors from predators.
