PERTH SHOE FETISH ARSONIST PLEADS GUILTY TO BIZARRE TEENAGE SHOE THEFT
Kitchen fitter Mark Barrie, 35, ambushed an 18-year-old girl in Perth town centre, grabbing her by the ankles and ripping off one of her shoes before fleeing with it.Barrie claimed to have gone into a "trance" before pouncing and later confessed that he liked to stare at women's shoes in shop windows.
He admitted carrying out the bizarre attack in January.
Barrie was recognised from CCTV footage, and he later admitted to the police his fascination with shoes, stating that it was part of his psyche.
At court, he pleaded guilty and was placed on the sex offenders register; sentencing was deferred for reports.
