HORRIFIC CHILD SEX OFFENDER MARK ASPIN FROM HULL SENTENCED AFTER GROOMING AND RAPE CASES
In a deeply disturbing case that has shocked the community of Hull, Mark Aspin, aged 44, and his partner Debbie Pickersgill, aged 46, have been sentenced to a combined total of 30 years in prison for a series of heinous sex crimes committed against minors. The sentencing took place at Grimsby Crown Court on Friday, December 4, following a harrowing trial that revealed the extent of their depravity.
Mark Aspin, residing on Endeavour Crescent in Hull, was found guilty of 22 separate offences after a trial that lasted nearly two weeks.
The court heard detailed accounts of his crimes, which included two counts of child cruelty, one count of sexual activity with a child, two counts of raping a girl under the age of 13, seven counts of raping a girl under 16, six counts of raping a girl over 16, one count of attempted rape, and three counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
Aspin had previously pleaded guilty to one count of sexual activity with a child, but denied the remaining charges until the trial.
During the proceedings, it was revealed that Aspin had groomed and violently assaulted three teenage girls.
One victim, who was just 11 years old at the time, recounted how Aspin raped her, while two others, aged 13, also testified to being subjected to his brutal attacks.
The court was shown CCTV footage depicting Aspin hypnotizing one of the victims, making her dance and pose as if she were a model—an act prosecutors argued was part of his grooming technique.
Aspin claimed he was a genuine hypnotist, but the jury was unconvinced.
It was also disclosed that Aspin involved Pickersgill in group sexual activities with two of his young victims.
One particularly horrifying incident involved Aspin raping a girl until she lost consciousness while Pickersgill watched.
The victims’ statements painted a picture of violence, manipulation, and exploitation that left a lasting scar.
Despite Aspin’s attempts to deny the severity of his actions, the jury swiftly convicted him of all charges, and he was sentenced to 27 years in prison.
Judge Ahmed Nadim emphasized the profound impact of the victims’ statements, stating, “The victims can hold their heads high in the knowledge that their statements have been taken into account and have profoundly influenced the sentencing approach of the court.” The judge further explained that Aspin would serve at least 13 and a half years before being eligible for parole, with the remainder of his sentence to be served on license.
Debbie Pickersgill, who was found guilty of three counts of sexual activity with a child, received a sentence of three years.
The court noted that she must serve at least 18 months in custody, less any time already served on remand.
The judge described her participation as being under duress, stating, “You joined in the sexual activity you were asked to engage in for his pleasure.” The court acknowledged her honesty during the trial and her failure to report the abuse, which served as mitigating factors.
Her involvement in the group sex sessions with Aspin and the victims was also taken into account.
Both offenders are scheduled for further sentencing at a later date.
The case has left the Hull community shaken, as details of the abuse and manipulation by Aspin and Pickersgill have come to light, revealing a dark chapter of exploitation and violence against vulnerable young girls.
The court’s verdict underscores the importance of justice for victims of such heinous crimes and the ongoing need to protect children from predators like Aspin and Pickersgill.
