MARK ALLGOOD FROM MARCH SENTENCED FOR HISTORIC RAPE IN PETERBOROUGH

In a case that has spanned decades, a man from March named Mark Allgood has been convicted and sentenced for serious sexual offenses committed in the city of Peterborough. The crimes, which took place over 20 years ago, have only recently come to light through diligent police investigation and judicial proceedings.

In 1999, Allgood, then aged 23, engaged in a series of heinous acts against a teenage girl in Peterborough. Over the course of that year, he subjected her to sexual assault and rape, actions that left a lasting impact on the victim. The details of the case remained largely under the radar until 2018, when the victim reported the incidents to Cambridgeshire Police, prompting a thorough investigation into the allegations.

Following the investigation, authorities charged Allgood with two counts of raping a girl under 16 and one count of indecent assault of a girl under 14. In 2008, Allgood was convicted at Peterborough Crown Court for multiple offenses, including robbery, dangerous driving of a stolen Audi, and driving without insurance or a valid license. The incident that led to his conviction occurred on March 4, 2008, when he crashed his own vehicle into a ditch near the A141 at Huntingdon around 8 pm. After the crash, a passer-by stopped to offer assistance, only to be assaulted by Allgood, who then stole her car keys and drove away, further demonstrating his pattern of reckless and criminal behavior.
