SHOCKING CRIME: MARIUS ABRAMAVICIUS, THE NEWPORT PAEDOPHILE, SENTENCED FOR GROOMING YOUNG GIRL IN RISKY CASE
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the Newport community, Marius Abramavicius, a 35-year-old man originally from Lithuania, was sentenced to prison after being found guilty of grooming and sexually assaulting a young girl. The incident, which took place in Newport, highlights the ongoing concerns about child safety and the dangers posed by individuals with a high risk of harm towards female children.
According to court reports, Abramavicius, who has been residing in the UK since 2009, was assessed as posing a “high risk of harm towards female children.” The case came to light when the young girl, who was targeted by Abramavicius, confided in someone about the abuse.
Prosecutor Jeffrey Jones detailed that Abramavicius had instructed the girl not to disclose the assault, emphasizing the manipulative nature of his actions.
Initially, Abramavicius denied any involvement in child abuse when questioned by police.
However, after the girl reported the incident, he eventually made a full confession to the authorities.
During police interviews, he expressed remorse, stating he was “very sorry” for what he had done.
His admissions included two counts of intentionally touching the girl in a sexual manner, with the offenses occurring within the past decade.
The court was informed that Abramavicius’s behavior was classified as presenting a “high risk of harm,” underscoring the severity of his actions.
The judge, Recorder Bould, addressed the defendant directly, stating, “You have not been able to provide any explanation for this behaviour.
The sexual touching of a child is a serious matter.” Furthermore, the judge highlighted the damaging impact of Abramavicius’s actions on his victim, noting that his offending exhibited “elements of grooming,” which is often a precursor to more severe abuse.
The court’s decision reflected the gravity of the case, with Abramavicius being sentenced to 30 months in prison.
Additionally, he was placed under an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, which aims to protect the community from future offenses.
As part of his ongoing legal obligations, Abramavicius is required to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life, ensuring that authorities can monitor his activities and prevent further harm.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and the need for robust measures to safeguard vulnerable children from predatory individuals in communities like Newport.
