MARIO SZTOJKA SENTENCED TO 18 YEARS FOR RAPE IN HUDDERSFIELD TOWN CENTRE
In a case that shocked the community of Huddersfield, a man named Mario Sztojka has been handed down a severe prison sentence after being convicted of a brutal sexual assault that took place in the town centre. The incident occurred in the early hours of May 26, 2021, when Sztojka, then 26 years old, targeted a woman on Lower Viaduct Street, a busy area known for its nightlife and bustling activity.
Following the attack, law enforcement authorities launched a comprehensive investigation to identify and apprehend the suspect.
It was only a few days after the assault that police managed to pinpoint Sztojka as the prime suspect.
A significant operation was undertaken to track him down, which culminated in his arrest in December of the same year.
Police officials described Sztojka as a “dangerous and predatory sex offender” who did everything possible to avoid capture and evade justice.
Sztojka, who resides on Meltham Road in Huddersfield, faced a trial at Leeds Crown Court where he was charged with two counts of rape.
The court proceedings revealed the gravity of his actions, and after a thorough examination of the evidence, the jury found him guilty of both charges.
The judge sentenced Sztojka to 18 years in prison, with a minimum of 12 years to be served before he is eligible for parole.
This case underscores the serious nature of sexual offences and the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to protect the community from individuals who pose a threat to public safety.
