MARTIAL ARTS INSTRUCTOR JAILED FOR HEINOUS CHILD SEX OFFENSES

A martial arts instructor named Marcus Mayne, aged 40 and based in Abertillery, Blaenau Gwent, has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for committing multiple serious sexual offenses. Mayne was convicted by a Cardiff Crown Court jury after denying seven charges of rape, two of indecency with a child under 16, and three sex assaults. The court heard that Mayne deliberately targeted three girls aged between 11 and 15, exploiting his position as a martial arts instructor to prey on them. His crimes came to light after one of his victims confided in her mother. Prosecutor Ieuan Morris described the case as "most serious, alarming and disturbing" and emphasized that Mayne had threatened to kill one girl if she disclosed the abuse. Furthermore, after one victim became pregnant, he reportedly stamped on her stomach and attempted to abort the pregnancy with a wire. Upon his arrest, Mayne faced severe sentences, and the judge noted that he was a "dangerous man" with a deep predilection for young girls, showing no remorse. He was ordered to register as a sex offender and was disqualified for life from working with children. The judge stated that Mayne would not be eligible for parole for over eight years, and it was doubted he would be considered for parole even then. Mayne's actions have caused profound psychological scars on his victims, who will carry these wounds for life.
