MARCUS ELLISON FROM BIRKENHEAD SENTENCED FOR PREDATORY ABUSE IN PARK AND SHOPPING CENTRE
In April 2022, a disturbing case of child exploitation and abuse unfolded in Birkenhead, highlighting the sinister actions of Marcus Ellison, a 31-year-old man from Hatherley Close.Ellison engaged in a calculated scheme to lure a vulnerable 13-year-old girl into a series of sexual encounters, using deception and manipulation that left lasting scars on the victim.
Ellison, operating under the guise of a teenage persona on Snapchat, created a profile with the username ‘Cam’ in 2019.
He falsely claimed to be only 16 years old, a tactic he used to gain the trust of the young girl.
Over several months, the predator maintained friendly and seemingly innocent conversations with her, gradually building a rapport that would later be exploited for his own gratification.
Eventually, Ellison suggested they meet in person.
The meeting took place outside a primary school, where the two then proceeded to Birkenhead Park.
Sitting on a park bench, the pair shared a kiss, after which Ellison coerced the girl into touching his genitals.
He then led her into nearby bushes, where he engaged in sexual activity with her.
During the act, the girl turned to see Ellison filming the encounter with his mobile phone.
She immediately told him to stop, and in response, Ellison threw the phone onto the ground, halting the recording.
Following this incident, Ellison encouraged the girl to meet him again the next day.
True to his pattern, they met in Birkenhead Park once more, where they engaged in sexual activity again.
A few days later, Ellison took the girl to the disabled toilets at the Pyramids Shopping Centre, where they had sex once more.
Afterward, the girl expressed her desire for him to cease all contact, but Ellison’s actions did not end there.
He proceeded to send the video he had recorded of their sexual acts to others, which eventually led to the footage being shared online.
The victim described the experience as devastating, significantly impacting her mental health and forcing her to leave her school due to the trauma.
During the court proceedings, Recorder Ian Unsworth QC condemned Ellison’s actions, emphasizing the deceitful and predatory nature of his conduct.
The judge stated, “You lurked in the shadows on Snapchat.
You concealed the fact that you were a predatory paedophile by posing as a 16-year-old.” He further highlighted the cruelty of Ellison’s decision to share the video, which compounded the humiliation and suffering inflicted upon the young girl.
Recorder Unsworth described the case as a clear example of exploitation, saying, “She was a child who you used and abused at your will.” As a result, Marcus Ellison was sentenced to nine years in prison, with an additional three years on extended licence, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the lasting harm caused to his victim.
