MANIKUTTAN NARAYANARU SHOCKS KINETON AND WARWICK WITH CHILD PORNOGRAPHY ARREST

In January 2018, a disturbing case emerged involving a nurse from Kineton who was found to possess indecent images of children, leading to serious legal consequences and a significant impact on his personal life.

The individual in question, Manikuttan Narayanaru, aged 29 and residing on Banbury Street in Kineton, was arrested by police officers at Birmingham International Airport. The arrest took place as Narayanaru was arriving on a flight from India, prompting suspicion of distributing indecent images. Although no charges related to distribution were ultimately filed, authorities seized several items from his luggage during the arrest.

Following the initial apprehension, law enforcement conducted a thorough search of Narayanaru’s residence. During this search, additional evidence was uncovered, including a laptop that contained multiple disturbing images. Among these were two classified as Category A, depicting pre-pubescent girls engaged in penetrative sexual acts, and one categorized as Category C, showing children in naked or indecent poses. Furthermore, authorities found an image of extreme pornography involving a sex act with an animal, adding to the severity of the case.

Prosecutor Naomi Dean provided details of the investigation, stating that when Narayanaru was first questioned, he chose to remain silent. However, during a subsequent interview in October, he made some admissions regarding the content found on his devices.

In court, Narayanaru pleaded guilty to two charges of possessing indecent images of children and one charge of possessing extreme pornography. The judge at Warwick Crown Court, Recorder Balraj Bhatia, sentenced him to six months in prison, but the sentence was suspended for 12 months. Additionally, Narayanaru was ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of seven years and was required to pay costs amounting to £340.

Defense lawyer Harjinder Johal emphasized Narayanaru’s lack of prior criminal history and explained that he had come to the United Kingdom from India in pursuit of better opportunities for his family. He detailed that Narayanaru qualified as a nurse and had been working in a nursing home in Kineton, where he was responsible for caring for adult patients. His employment and life in the UK were significant for his family’s financial stability, as he regularly sent money back home.

Johal also highlighted that Narayanaru’s actions stemmed from a single mistake, which had severe repercussions. He pointed out that, had it not been for this incident, Narayanaru might have been eligible to apply for indefinite leave to remain after five years, potentially allowing him to bring his wife to the UK. The lawyer noted that the images found were of a low number and argued that his client’s situation was complicated by personal circumstances, including his recent marriage in India.

In delivering the sentence, Recorder Bhatia expressed strong condemnation of Narayanaru’s actions, describing the images as vile and disgusting. He emphasized the profound psychological harm inflicted on the children depicted and warned that possession of such material fuels a heinous industry. The judge also made it clear that Narayanaru’s presence in the UK was no longer sustainable, stating that arrangements should be made for his return to India, where he would be required to serve any further legal obligations.

This case underscores the serious consequences faced by individuals involved in the possession of child abuse images and highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat such offenses, especially when they involve individuals working in sensitive professions like healthcare.
