    PONTEFRACT PAEDOPHILE MALCOM FLETCHER SENTENCED TO EIGHT AND A HALF YEARS

    In May 2021, a disturbing case involving a Pontefract man was brought to a conclusion as he was sentenced for sexual offenses against a young girl. Malcom Fletcher, aged 72, was convicted of raping and sexually abusing an 11-year-old girl over a period of four years.

    The victim was between 11 and 15 years old during the incidents. Fletcher, who resides on West Close in Pontefract, faced three counts of rape and two counts of indecent assault.

    He appeared in Leeds Crown Court on May 11, where he was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison for his crimes. Fletcher was found guilty of these serious offenses, which marked a tragic chapter involving the exploitation of a young girl by someone she trusted.
