KEMNAY MAN JAILED FOR POSSESSING OVER 2,600 CHILD ABUSE IMAGES
Malcolm Glennie, aged 54, was sentenced to 30 months in prison after police raided his home in Kemnay on May 25 last year.During the search, officers discovered over 2,600 indecent images and hours of video of children on his Motorola mobile phone.
The images included children as young as one year old, with nearly 500 images and 350 videos classified as Category A, the most serious category.
An additional 830 images and seven videos were classified as Category B, and 664 images and 94 videos as Category C.
The footage featured both boys and girls aged between one and 14.
Glennie, who was already on the sex offenders register and had previous convictions for similar crimes in 2013, pleaded guilty to downloading and possessing these images between February 14, 2019, and May 25, 2021.
During the police raid, his wife was heard asking him if he had committed the same offense again, to which he replied, "I’m sorry.
I’m damaged, so damaged." The court heard that Glennie recognizes the seriousness of his actions, which contribute to the demand for such harmful content.
Sheriff Andrew Miller emphasized that any violation of this nature is a grave matter, stating that Glennie had "emphatically passed the threshold" for a prison sentence.
Consequently, Glennie was sentenced to 30 months imprisonment and will remain on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
