MALCOLM BRYANT CAUGHT IN HULL TRYING TO DELETE CHILD ABUSE IMAGES

In a disturbing case that unfolded in Hull, Malcolm Bryant, a 61-year-old former Army engineer, was apprehended by police after they discovered him attempting to erase heinous images of children from his computer.

The incident took place at his residence in Lindsey Place, west Hull, on the evening of January 31.

Officers arrived at approximately 7:50 pm, but despite their repeated knocks, Bryant did not respond to the door.

According to the prosecution, Jayne Bryan, when the police forced entry into the flat, Bryant was present and was promptly arrested.

The authorities observed that Bryant’s computer monitor displayed a CCleaner program actively deleting files, with over nine megabytes of illicit material already removed.

However, forensic analysts were able to access the data and discovered that Bryant had been viewing and possibly storing extremely disturbing images.

Investigators found a total of 54 Category A images, which are classified as the most severe, along with 100 Category B images and 68 Category C images.

The images contained a large number of different victims, some as young as two years old.

Prosecutors highlighted that in some of these images, the children appeared intoxicated or under the influence of drugs, adding to the severity of the evidence.

Further investigation revealed that Bryant had been communicating via a messaging service where another user, operating under the pseudonym “Rugby perv,” was discussing explicit child abuse content.

This exchange raised additional concerns about Bryant’s involvement in online child exploitation.

During police interviews, Bryant denied having any sexual interest in children or intentionally searching for indecent images.

He claimed that his health conditions, including diabetes and Peyronie’s disease, had rendered him impotent, and that he had been searching the internet for pornography to cope with his condition.

Bryant also insisted that if he encountered any indecent images, he would immediately close the link to avoid viewing them.

Despite his denials, Bryant admitted to three charges of making indecent images of children.

The court sentenced him to eight months in prison, suspended for two years.

Additionally, he was placed under a four-month curfew from 7 pm to 7 am, ordered to register as a sex offender for ten years, and subjected to a sexual harm prevention order for the same period.

Bryant was also mandated to undergo 50 days of rehabilitation and was ordered to pay costs amounting to £250.

The case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat online child exploitation and protect vulnerable victims from further harm.
