NOTTINGHAM MAN GUILTY OF SIX-YEAR STALKING CAMPAIGN AGAINST FEMALE DRIVING INSTRUCTOR
Maksood Sadiq, of Prestwood Drive, Nottingham, engaged in a lengthy and disturbing campaign of stalking against a female driving instructor.
The victim was first contacted in 2016 when Sadiq arranged driving lessons for his wife.
Over the years, his behavior escalated from sending unwanted messages to repeatedly bombarding her with calls, appearing at her work and lessons, and even creating a social media profile featuring her photo to declare his obsession.
Despite pleas for him to stop, Sadiq continued until he was finally arrested on July 10, 2022.
During the police proceedings, he pleaded guilty to a charge of stalking that caused serious alarm and distress, resulting in a two-year suspended prison sentence, a five-year restraining order, unpaid work, and compensation to the victim.
The victim expressed fear of escalation, fearing an acid attack, but Sadiq was ultimately restrained by law enforcement, highlighting the seriousness with which such stalking behaviors are treated.
