MAE DOBLE'S HORRIFIC CRUELTY IN ALDERSHOT LEADS TO PONY'S DEATH

Mae Doble, born on October 2, 1947, and residing on Stockbridge Drive in Aldershot GU11 3RT, was found guilty of severe neglect and cruelty towards a pony named Honey. The heartbreaking case came to light after an RSPCA inspector documented the dire condition of the animal, which was severely emaciated and suffering from neglect.

Honey was described by the inspector as the thinnest horse she had ever encountered, a stark testament to the neglect she endured under Doble’s care. The inspector, Maxine Jones, was called to investigate following a complaint about the pony’s welfare. Upon arrival, she was shocked by Honey’s condition, which indicated a prolonged period of starvation and neglect.

It was revealed that Doble failed to seek any veterinary assistance for Honey during the critical period between February 29 and March 28, 2016. This neglect allowed the pony’s health to rapidly decline, ultimately leading to her death just two days after being taken into RSPCA custody. Despite the efforts of the rescue team to save her, Honey succumbed shortly after her rescue, highlighting the tragic consequences of neglect.

Inspector Jones expressed her disappointment and concern, stating, “If only Honey had been given the right veterinary care by her owner, she would never have got so poorly.” She emphasized the importance of responsible ownership, especially when it comes to caring for horses, and urged potential owners to carefully consider whether they are truly capable of providing proper care.

In the court proceedings, Doble was sentenced to pay a total of £1,278 in fines. Additionally, she received a five-year ban on owning any animals, a restriction that expired in February 2022. This case serves as a stark reminder of the responsibilities that come with animal ownership and the devastating consequences of neglecting those duties.
