LYNDON MATTHEWS FROM BARRY SENTENCED TO EIGHT YEARS FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN NEWPORT
In a recent court ruling at Newport Crown Court, Lyndon Matthews, a 35-year-old resident of Barry, was handed a significant prison sentence of eight years after admitting to multiple serious sexual offences involving young girls. The charges against Matthews included two counts of engaging in sexual activity with a girl under the age of 16, as well as a count of sexual assault on a girl under 13 through physical touching.
These allegations are linked to two female victims, with the incidents spanning over several years.
One of the charges pertains to an assault that took place in 2018, involving a young girl under the age of 13.
The other two counts relate to assaults on a different girl, occurring between 2009 and 2010.
The details of these offences highlight a disturbing pattern of abuse over a prolonged period.
Following his guilty plea, Matthews was sentenced to serve eight years in prison.
Additionally, the court mandated that he must sign the sex offenders’ register for the rest of his life, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his activities post-release.
Furthermore, Matthews was placed under an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, which imposes strict restrictions aimed at preventing any future offences and protecting the community from potential harm.
This case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement and the judicial system to address and penalize sexual offences against minors, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding vulnerable children from predators within communities such as Barry and beyond.
