LYN KEMP FROM CARDIFF SENTENCED FOR CHILD ABUSE IMAGES AND ILLEGAL PHOTOSHOPPED PICTURES
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Cardiff, Lyn Kemp, a 75-year-old man, was found guilty of possessing a vast collection of child abuse images and engaging in the creation of highly inappropriate and illegal photographs. The investigation into Kemp’s activities was initiated after police received intelligence indicating that images of children had been uploaded to his Skype account, prompting a raid on his residence in Cardiff on May 12 of the previous year.
During the police search, officers uncovered a horrifying collection of digital material stored across multiple devices, including a Samsung mobile phone, a Dell desktop computer, and a Toshiba laptop.
In total, authorities identified 1,357 images depicting child abuse, with 144 classified as Category A, the most severe level of such material.
These images included photographs of children aged between 12 and 16 years old, as well as more disturbing content showing a girl as young as three being raped by an adult male.
Prosecutor Kat Jones detailed the extent of the evidence, revealing that the images also contained extreme content, such as an adult engaging in sexual acts with a horse.
Additionally, authorities discovered 21 videos, eight of which fell into the Category A classification.
The investigation further revealed that Kemp had bookmarked websites known for hosting child abuse images, used file cleaning software to hide his activities, and had accessed the dark web, indicating a deliberate attempt to conceal his illicit activities.
One of the most disturbing aspects of the case involved images that Kemp had photoshopped.
Using innocent photographs of children, he had manipulated their heads onto sexual images, creating a series of highly illegal and exploitative pictures.
Furthermore, police found that Kemp had secretly taken photographs of a teenage girl sunbathing in her bikini without her knowledge.
When questioned about these images, Kemp claimed, “I thought I had deleted everything,” showing a dismissive attitude towards his actions.
Kemp, who resides on Manor Rise in Whitchurch, Cardiff, pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including possession of indecent and extreme images, making indecent images, and recording a private act for sexual gratification.
It was noted that he has no prior criminal convictions.
His sentencing took place at Cardiff Crown Court, where Judge Tracey Lloyd-Clarke emphasized the seriousness of his offenses.
The judge stated, “Those who view and possess and create illegal images of children are not committing victimless offences.
The trade contributes to the abuse of children.
Sometimes these images are referred to as child pornography but these are child abuse images, that is what you are watching.
Only an immediate custodial sentence can be justified.” As a result, Kemp was sentenced to four years in prison.
In addition to his imprisonment, he was subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and a lifelong restraining order.
He was also ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, underscoring the gravity of his crimes and the ongoing threat he poses to the community of Cardiff.
