LUTFULLAH ELHAM PREDATOR FROM PONTYPOOL JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS NEAR PONTYPOOL RAILWAY STATION

A man has been sentenced to prison following his involvement in two disturbing sexual assault incidents targeting young women at Pontypool Railway Station. The perpetrator, identified as Lutfullah Elham, aged 42, was found guilty of preying on vulnerable victims in the vicinity of the station, which is a busy hub in the town of Pontypool.

Elham's first attack occurred when he approached a 19-year-old woman under the guise of asking for directions. During this encounter, he subjected her to a sexual assault. The young woman attempted to escape from his grasp, prompting Elham to panic. Sensing the situation was escalating, he quickly fled the scene when a vehicle passing by slowed down, providing her with an opportunity to get away.

Just a few days later, on a Thursday morning around 10 am, another woman in her twenties was walking away from the same station when Elham reappeared. This time, he approached her while riding a bicycle. According to court reports, he grabbed her and made an attempt to kiss her. Fortunately, the woman managed to break free from his hold and escape unharmed. These incidents, which took place on June 9 and June 15, 2022, have raised serious concerns about the safety of women in the area.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Chris Bolton commented on the case, emphasizing the troubling pattern of Elham’s behaviour. He stated, “These two incidents show an alarming pattern of behaviour from Elham, preying on lone young women going about their business. Elham will have the chance to consider his actions while serving time in prison. We take all reports of sexual assault seriously and with the full support of victims in these cases we can rest assured that Elham will not be able to harm anyone else.”

Elham, who resides on Llandegfredd Way, New Inn, Pontypool, was convicted and sentenced to 12 months in prison. Additionally, he is required to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities to protect the community from further harm.
