Tracy Gow, who was set to marry her fiancé at The Vu in Bathgate on September 13, 2024, faced an unimaginable disruption when police officers arrived at her home to arrest Luke Whittaker, her partner, on serious charges related to child exploitation.

According to reports, the police executed a warrant at Luke Whittaker’s residence, uncovering evidence that linked him to the possession and distribution of indecent images of children. The officers’ discovery was compounded by the fact that Whittaker, aged 33, had a prior criminal record for sexual offences, which made the situation even more alarming for those involved. Tracy Gow expressed her shock and dismay, stating, “Overall, he used me to cover his real self,” highlighting her feelings of betrayal and disgust at his actions.

Following his arrest, Luke Whittaker appeared before Falkirk Sheriff Court on April 20, where he was remanded in custody. In addition to her personal trauma, Tracy has called for reforms in the legal system, particularly advocating for more effective checks under Clare’s Law or Sarah’s Law, which she believes could have revealed Whittaker’s criminal past earlier. She also condemned his continued inappropriate messages after his arrest, describing them as vile, although police confirmed that the content was not criminal and that Whittaker has since ceased contact. Reflecting on her experience, Tracy admitted, “I feel like a complete idiot for falling for him,” and expressed her hope that changes in the law could help prevent others from suffering similar heartbreak and betrayal.
