NOTTINGHAM MAN ADMITS DOMESTIC ASSAULT IN COURT
A man has pleaded guilty to an assault on his girlfriend during a court hearing in Nottingham.Luke Norman, aged 43, of Briar Court, Nottingham, admitted to assault by beating that occurred at the Bell Inn on Angel Row on June 28.
The magistrates court heard that Norman was drinking vodka at the pub after work when he attacked his girlfriend of six months.
Norman's defender, Emma Wyborn, stated that his victim has since attempted to reconcile with him.
Wyborn emphasized that Norman's behavior was 'out of character' and that he found it 'embarrassing' and 'difficult' to watch CCTV footage of the incident.
She added that the victim was grabbed by the hair and associated the attack with Norman's alcohol consumption at the time.
Norman has no previous alcohol-related incidents, but he has had ongoing alcohol issues in the past, which led to a move to Ireland with his father.
After relapsing, he returned to England and began attending a wellbeing clinic to address his drinking problems.
Ms Wyborn assured the court that Norman intends to abstain from alcohol in the future and is seeking community help to prevent future incidents.
One of the magistrates advised Norman to continue with the wellbeing program and released him on conditional bail.
The case has been adjourned until December 6.
