In April 2014, a disturbing incident unfolded in Ashford involving a 22-year-old man named Luke McLaren. The police discovered him lying beside a 14-year-old girl, with incriminating items such as a pair of handcuffs and a small sex toy found in his pockets. However, it was not until February 5, after the girl was reported missing by her parents, that officers visited an address in Folkestone to investigate further.

During the police visit, officers found McLaren and the girl lying together, both fully dressed. The girl was subsequently returned to her parents, and a search of McLaren revealed the presence of the handcuffs and sex toy in his pockets. The items included a pair of silver handcuffs and a small bullet-style vibrator, which added to the disturbing nature of the case.

Although the victim initially refused to disclose details of what had transpired, McLaren admitted to having sex with her on two separate occasions. He claimed that he was intoxicated during these encounters. Despite being released on bail, McLaren was later found in breach of his bail conditions when he was discovered with the girl again. As a result, he was re-arrested and remanded in custody to await sentencing.

Ultimately, McLaren was sentenced to 14 months in prison for his involvement in these serious offences, marking a significant and troubling chapter in the ongoing investigation into his actions in Ashford.
