LUKE MANTON JAILED OVER DRINK AND DRUG FUELED ATTACK ON HIS GIRLFRIEND
A man who stamped on his girlfriend’s head after binging on cocaine and rum has been jailed.Sophie Hanson was terrified that Luke Manton was going to kill her during the attack at her Dewsbury Moor home.
District Judge Michael Fanning jailed the 20-year-old for 14 weeks after hearing how he later returned to the address and threatened to burn it down.
He had pleaded guilty to assault and threats to case damage at an earlier hearing.
Kirklees Magistrates’ Court heard that the incident happened on March 4 after the couple returned to Miss Hanson’s Moorside Avenue home.
They had shared a bottle of Bacardi and Manton, of Moorside Road, later left to buy some cocaine off his drug dealer.
When he returned to the house a row erupted and Manton punched Miss Hanson to the head and body, knocking her to the ground.
There he trod on her head, repeatedly punching her in the face and she thought he was going to kill her.
As well as jailing Manton, Judge Fanning made a two-year restraining order banning him from contacting Miss Hanson.
He told him: “You lost your temper so completely that you repeatedly punched your girlfriend and, while she was on the floor, kicked her to the head.
“This kind of action can seriously injure or kill somebody.”
