SWINDON MAN LUKE LORD ADMITTED TO SEX WITH 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN SHOCKING CASE
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Swindon, a 21-year-old man named Luke Lord from Cottington Close, Freshbrook, has pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual activity with a girl aged only 13.The incident came to light after Lord was arrested in September, following an encounter that took place in July of the same year.
Lord did not deny the allegations when questioned by police; instead, he admitted to the act and subsequently pleaded guilty in court.
His defense lawyer, Mike Pulsford, described Lord as being "immature and naive in his attitudes and beliefs," attempting to provide context for his client’s actions.
According to Mr.
Pulsford, Lord claimed to have been under "tremendous pressure" from the young girl and her friends to engage in sexual activity.
The relationship reportedly began when the girl approached Lord approximately three weeks prior, asking him to purchase alcohol from a local shop.
On the day of the incident, the girl, accompanied by a friend, visited Lord at his home.
Later, the trio left Lord’s residence to visit another friend’s house nearby, where they consumed spirits together.
Mr.
Pulsford explained that Lord had consumed whisky, which he suggested may have impaired his judgment.
He also noted that the 13-year-old girl appeared quite streetwise and had a fondness for spirits, which he claimed indicated she was interested in him.
Following this, the girl and her friend left Lord’s house and returned to her home.
The girl’s friend went to sleep upstairs, leaving Lord and the 13-year-old girl alone.
The two then shared a kiss on the sofa before heading upstairs to Lord’s bedroom.
It was at this point that the girl produced a condom, and the two engaged in what was described as "consensual sex." Mr.
Pulsford emphasized that Lord was not someone who had deliberately sought out a young girl for sexual purposes.
Instead, he argued that Lord had been approached and that the situation unfolded naturally.
He praised Lord for immediately admitting his guilt, stating that this should be viewed positively.
As part of the court’s ruling, Lord was placed on the sex offender register and received a three-year community rehabilitation order.
Additionally, he was ordered to pay £138 in court costs.
The chairwoman of the bench, Eileen Charles, highlighted the seriousness of the case, noting that the victim was under 16, had been drinking, and that the significant age disparity and alcohol consumption made the offense more severe.
This case underscores the ongoing concerns about underage drinking and inappropriate relationships within the Swindon community, raising questions about safeguarding and the responsibilities of young adults in such situations.
