HUDDERSFIELD MAN JAILED FOR STABBING GIRLFRIEND IN HEAD
A judge has criticized men who assault women, labeling them as "cowards and bullies," as he handed down a two-year prison sentence to Luke Kenny, aged 29, for stabbing his girlfriend in the head with a knife.Kenny admitted to the charge of unlawful wounding and received the two-year sentence.
The assault resulted in his girlfriend requiring stitches for three injuries, which included a five-stitch wound to her head, a cut on her neck, and an injury to her earlobe.
Court proceedings revealed that Kenny had a prior record of domestic violence against partners, including previous convictions for battery.
During the case, it was disclosed that Kenny was at his workplace from 8 am to 5 pm but left at 4:30 pm with his partner.
The court was informed that the couple had been facing relationship issues, partly related to finances, and that Kenny reacted violently during an incident but subsequently apologized.
The judge highlighted Kenny’s disturbing pattern of violence against women and stressed that laws are in place to shield victims from such assaults.
Kenny’s criminal record includes a 2009 conviction for battery against a partner, as well as incidents involving threats to kill and battery with a different partner, which resulted in a prison sentence of over two years.
The court condemned male attackers of women as cowards, warning that Kenny’s behavior indicates a troubling tendency to abuse his partners, emphasizing the importance of the law in protecting individuals from such abusive conduct.
