A man responsible for calling his victim’s workplace over 1,000 times in a single afternoon has been sentenced to prison.
Luke Gleeson subjected a woman in her twenties from Bicester to persistent harassment through phone calls, emails, and social media messages from late April to mid-September, police reported.
The 37-year-old from Worrall, Sheffield, pleaded guilty to a stalking charge that involved instilling fear of violence at Oxford Crown Court and was sentenced to two years behind bars on Tuesday.
Det Con Sophie Smith, from Thames Valley Police, said Gleeson “displayed no concern nor care for the victim’s wellbeing.
Stalking is life-altering crime, and I hope the outcome of [the] court proceedings demonstrates to the public that we, the police, are taking these crimes seriously and will do everything in our power to assist any victims seeking help,” Gleeson was also issued an indefinite restraining order to prevent him from contacting the victim.
