LUKE FOX'S SHOCKING RAPE CASE IN NOTTINGHAM: MANSLAUGHTER AND ASSAULT ON STUDENTS

A man named Luke Fox, aged 24, originally from Merseyside, has been sentenced to prison after being convicted of heinous sexual offenses committed in Nottingham. Fox's defense, claiming that he suffered from a sleep disorder known as parasomnia which rendered him unaware of his actions during the assaults, was ultimately rejected by the jury. The court determined that his claims did not sufficiently explain or justify his criminal behavior. On Thursday, at Nottingham Crown Court, Fox was sentenced to a term of 10 years in prison. The judge, Mr. Justice Auty, ordered that Fox serve at least two-thirds of his sentence behind bars, with the remaining time under supervision. Additionally, Fox was mandated to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

The court proceedings revealed that Fox's first assault occurred when he was 20 years old. He raped his first victim while she was sleeping after a party held on the university campus. The victim, who was heavily intoxicated, was described by the judge as particularly vulnerable due to her alcohol consumption. The judge quoted her statement, saying, "I woke up to him raping me," highlighting the severity and brutality of the attack.

Approximately a year later, Fox committed a second assault, this time away from the university grounds. The second victim was also asleep when she was awakened to find Fox's hands in her clothing. The judge noted that she was unaware of his presence until she was physically assaulted.

In her impact statement, the first victim expressed ongoing emotional distress, stating that she continues to struggle with trust issues and experiences panic when others get too close. She also revealed that the trauma caused her to take a break from her university studies, underscoring the profound and lasting impact of Fox's actions.

During sentencing, Judge Auty described Fox's conduct as "utterly unforgivable," emphasizing the gravity of his crimes. He also addressed Fox's claims of parasomnia, expressing concern that Fox only began to seriously investigate this condition after the second assault. The judge noted that this delay cast doubt on the credibility of his defense.

Despite the serious nature of the crimes, the judge acknowledged that Fox showed some level of remorse, stating that he had demonstrated "grace and dignity" in acknowledging the likely devastating impact of his actions on his victims.
