In a groundbreaking legal development, Luke Ford became the first person in Scotland to be convicted of 'stealthing.' This term refers to the act of deceiving a sexual partner by falsely claiming to use a condom during intercourse, when in reality, no condom was used.
Ford's actions in this regard involved telling women he was protected by a condom while secretly removing it, thereby exposing them to unprotected sex and significant emotional and physical harm.
The police first became aware of Ford's activities in June 2020, following a report of an assault at an address in Edinburgh.
Officers responded to the scene and initiated an investigation that would eventually uncover a pattern of predatory behavior spanning several years.
