MAN, 21, AVOIDS JAIL AFTER SECRETLY FILMING SEX WITH STUDENT AND POSTING ON SNAPCHAT

Louis George, a 21-year-old man from Perth, Scotland, has received a lenient sentence in a high-profile case involving serious allegations. He was found guilty of sexual assault despite the fact that the intercourse was consensual, after he ignored an explicit request by the teenage girl involved. In addition, he was convicted of intending to cause fear, alarm, or distress by secretly recording and subsequently sharing footage of her in an intimate situation on Snapchat without her consent. The victim expressed deep emotional distress, stating she was left feeling 'disgusted and suicidal' after discovering the videos had been circulated among friends and online. The court heard that she was unaware she was being recorded and did not consent to the footage being shared. Sheriff Gillian Wade, presiding over the case, emphasized that George disregarded her boundaries: 'She tells him what is off limits and he does it anyway and he doesn't say anything about her consenting. She says he doesn't seem to have bothered after he did it.' Despite the gravity of his actions, George was spared jail and instead was ordered to register as a sex offender, do 160 hours of unpaid work, and was placed under 12 months of supervision. Court reports highlighted that George took advantage of the girl, who was in a vulnerable state, and dismissed her protests as she was intoxicated. The court also noted that George's behavior caused the girl significant psychological harm, including suicidal thoughts.
