LOGAN PEACHEY'S SHOCKING GROOMING OF PLYMOUTH SCHOOLGIRL LEADS TO THREE-YEAR JAIL SENTENCE
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Plymouth, Logan Peachey, a 23-year-old man from King Street, Stonehouse, has been sentenced to three years in prison after being convicted of grooming a vulnerable schoolgirl for sexual exploitation. The incident, which spanned over a year, involved Peachey offering gifts and money to the young girl in an attempt to persuade her to engage in sexual acts.
During the trial, it was revealed that Peachey had actively sought to manipulate the girl, who was only 14 years old at the time.
The court heard that he had arranged to meet her for sex, further demonstrating his intent to exploit her.
The judge, James Townsend, emphasized the severity of the offense, stating, “At the time of the offending your victim was only 14, and the activity between you was graphically set out in text messages during the trial.” Judge Townsend also highlighted the girl’s vulnerability, noting that her mental health was not in a good state at the time and that she was going through adolescence, which made her particularly susceptible to manipulation.
The judge condemned Peachey’s persistent efforts to pressure her into sexual activity, which involved offering gifts and money over an extended period, describing the conduct as serious offending given her age.
Prosecutor Jason Beal from the Crown Prosecution Service explained that the girl chose not to participate in the prosecution process and had not spoken to police about the impact of the grooming.
Despite her silence, the jury unanimously found Peachey guilty on all five counts, which included inciting a girl aged 14 or 15 into sexual activity and arranging to meet her for sex following grooming in May 2017.
The verdict was delivered after a four-day trial just before Christmas.
Following the conviction, Judge Townsend ordered Peachey to sign the Sex Offender Register for life and imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for five years.
The case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement and the justice system to combat grooming and protect vulnerable minors from exploitation in Plymouth and beyond.
