DOG ABUSERS LIZ PERRIN AND TREVOR HAGUE CONVICTED IN DUKINFIELD

Elizabeth Jane Perrin, born on August 4, 1972, of 47 Thorncliffe Avenue, Dukinfield SK16 4UD, and Trevor J Hague, born on March 22, 1973, of 3 Town Lane, Dukinfield SK16 4BX, have been convicted in 2025 for the physical abuse of dogs in their care.

Shocking footage revealed Perrin hitting her dogs with a garden spade and shouting, 'next one.' One dog was seen being knocked to the ground, and RSPCA officers later discovered that one pet had been euthanized due to severe injuries, including gash wounds. Perrin was also filmed hitting her dogs with a broom and keeping them in cramped, unsuitable conditions that did not prevent them from fighting. Additionally, her former boyfriend Trevor Hague was filmed kicking one of the dogs.

Both individuals faced prosecution following an RSPCA investigation.

RSPCA inspector Ryan King stated, "I visited the address on Town Lane in Dukinfield in November 2021 after reports that some of the dogs were fighting. The defendants claimed they had 20 dogs and showed me around an open plan area where several dogs were kept." He noted that one young French Bulldog, named Wizza, was lying on a sofa and appeared unusually flat and lethargic, not displaying typical energetic behavior. The inspector observed a strong smell and found puncture wounds on Wizza's front legs, blood around his ears, and additional wounds near his groin. Due to the severity of Wizza's injuries, he was euthanized to prevent further suffering. His body was later collected from a pet crematorium and used as evidence.

A month later, Inspector King reviewed two videos taken in the defendants’ backyard, which he recognized from prior visits. One video showed Trevor Hague kicking a dog, and the other depicted Elizabeth Perrin hitting a dog with a broom multiple times. Inspector King stated, "I could identify both Perrin and Hague in these videos as I had met them multiple times. I contacted Perrin to arrange a visit for further discussion."

The defendants claimed they only hit or kicked the dogs to separate them during fights, but the RSPCA contended that the videos clearly showed the animals were not fighting at the time. They agreed to transfer ownership of two dogs to the RSPCA.

However, another video surfaced a month later, showing Perrin wielding a spade in her garden. The footage captured her walking through a metal gate into the rear garden, where multiple dogs were present. Perrin raised the spade overhead and struck three dogs, hitting two on the head with significant force. One dog was knocked onto its back and struggled to rise. Afterward, Perrin paused, looked at the dogs, and shouted, 'next one.'

A veterinary expert confirmed that at least two dogs had been struck by the spade and that they would have suffered blunt force trauma. The report also noted that several other dogs kept by Perrin were not adequately housed to meet their welfare needs.

Perrin admitted to causing unnecessary suffering to three dogs through blunt force and physical violence, as well as failing to meet their housing needs. The magistrates decided not to ban her from keeping animals due to her two children having special needs and benefiting from support dogs.

Inspector King expressed his outrage, saying, 'Seeing that video of someone deliberately inflicting pain on an animal with a weapon was awful. There is no excuse for such behavior. Animals deserve kindness and respect.'

In sentencing, Perrin received a 12-month community order, a 16-week night-time curfew, and was ordered to pay £700 in costs, with no ban on keeping animals. Hague was fined £604, ordered to pay £700 costs, and received a six-month ban from keeping dogs.

This case was reported by Oldham Times and the Daily Mail.
