BEAUTY THERAPIST SENTENCED FOR DOMESTIC ABUSE ATTACK IN NORTHWICH
A woman named Lisa Phipps, aged 36, has been convicted of domestic abuse following an incident in a pub in Northwich. The court heard that Phipps, a beauty therapist, became aggressive after another patron claimed her partner, Scott Moore, was having an affair.
CCTV footage showed her storming across a Cheshire pub called the Blue Barrel and launching a violent attack on Moore.
During the incident, Phipps punched Moore twice in the head.
When Moore retaliated by punching her in response, she grabbed a snooker cue with the intent to strike him again.
Fortunately, another customer intervened and snatched the cue from her hands before any further harm could occur.
Phipps admitted to the assault during her court hearing, explicitly stating, 'I did punch him because he is my boyfriend.
I did punch him in the face, I did, I am not going to deny it.' While she was quickly arrested, Moore refused to speak to police.
The prosecution presented evidence indicating that the attack was triggered by allegations of infidelity and occurred in a setting marred by excessive alcohol consumption, with Phipps being intoxicated at the time.
Phipps also stated that she had gone over to Moore and hit him twice, acknowledging her actions, although she emphasized there were no injuries reported by Moore.
The court heard that her actions were driven by anger upon learning about the alleged affair.
She expressed remorse and indicated her intention to move on from the relationship, drawing attention to her lack of prior violent behavior and her efforts to rebuild her life after difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The judge sentenced her to a fine of £115 and ordered her to pay £166 in costs and a victim surcharge.
A probation officer confirmed there was no history of offending behavior, and Phipps was also fined for her role in the incident.
The court emphasized the importance of controlling anger to prevent future infractions, and Phipps's record will reflect this offence.
