PERTH MAN LINDSAY SMITH INVOLVED IN BRUTAL ASSAULTS AND VIOLENT OUTBURSTS IN PERTHSHIRE
A Perthshire man has been sentenced to a curfew after admitting to a severe domestic assault in Kirkcaldy.
Lindsay Smith, aged 33 from Glenearn Terrace in Bridge of Earn, previously pleaded guilty to breaching bail conditions and attacking a woman on the Fife Esplanade on July 25.
Just a month prior, he had been released by court under strict orders not to approach the victim but nonetheless assaulted his partner, grabbing her forcibly and causing her to fall.
He then sat on top of her and repeatedly punched her, also grabbing her by the throat and pushing her before pulling her clothing.
His lawyer stated that although Smith acknowledges his actions were influenced by alcohol, he does not consider himself an alcoholic.
As part of his sentence, Smith was placed under supervision for 18 months and ordered to adhere to a 9 pm to 7 am curfew for 130 days.
Sheriff Robert More noted that Smith had spent approximately two months on remand related to the assault.
He commented, “You’re very fortunate the Crown proceeded against you by way of a summary complaint.
The incident was quite shocking, sustained, and it’s not surprising that members of the public intervened.”
