CHRISTOPHER BINCH AND LINDSAY MOBEY SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IN NOTTINGHAM
A disturbing case involving the sexual abuse of a young child has led to the imprisonment of a man and a woman from Nottingham, highlighting the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat child exploitation.Christopher Binch, aged 36, was taken into custody by officers from the National Crime Agency on the 12th of March, 2022, following a series of disturbing discoveries related to his online activities.
Investigators had uncovered evidence that Binch had been actively discussing his sexual interest in minors and had uploaded indecent material to a covert online child abuse forum.
Authorities also found that Binch had shared a video and multiple images depicting the sexual abuse of a young child.
These materials were highly incriminating, as the footage included Binch filming and capturing images of the abuse.
When officers apprehended Binch, they conducted a thorough search of his possessions.
They seized his mobile phone and found it contained a significant number of illicit images.
Among these were 347 indecent images of children, categorized from A to C, along with various extreme and prohibited images.
The devices also contained three videos of the sexual abuse, all of which Binch had filmed himself.
During questioning, Binch admitted that he used the phone for personal reasons and confirmed that he had been using cocaine, which he also possessed at the time.
Further investigation into the videos revealed that while Binch appeared to be filming, the actual abuser was a female with a visible tattoo.
This tattoo was later identified as belonging to his partner, Lindsay Mobey, aged 34.
Mobey was detained three days after Binch’s arrest, as part of the ongoing investigation.
The inquiry progressed with meticulous analysis of Binch’s mobile devices.
The evidence confirmed that both Binch and Mobey had engaged in the abhorrent act of abusing a child under the age of 13.
In November, Binch pleaded guilty to ten criminal charges, which included the sexual assault of a minor, the making, possession, and distribution of indecent images of children, extreme pornography, and the possession of controlled substances.
Almost simultaneously, Mobey also admitted to the sexual assault of the same child.
The culmination of this case occurred at Leicester Crown Court, where both offenders received their sentences.
Christopher Binch was handed a prison term of eight years and one month.
Additionally, he was placed on the sex offenders register for life and was subjected to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, reflecting the severity and ongoing risk of his actions.
Lindsay Mobey received a sentence of two years and one month in prison, with a five-year period on the sex offenders register.
The safeguarding of the child involved was prioritized early in the investigation, ensuring that the victim received necessary support and protection.
Commenting on the case, Danny Waywell, a representative of the National Crime Agency, emphasized the gravity of the offense: “Binch and Mobey worked together to sexually abuse a young child, which he filmed and shared with other paedophiles online.
Their actions were calculated and abhorrent; exploiting this child to satisfy their own sexual gratifications and gain some horrific form of kudos among the like-minded online.
Safeguarding children from sexual abuse is a priority for the NCA.
We work tirelessly to identify offenders and ensure they are brought to justice so they no longer pose a threat.”
