ECCLES MAN JAILED FOR LIFE IN BRUTAL GIRLFRIEND MURDER
Liam King, aged 26 and from Eccles in Salford, was found guilty of murdering his girlfriend, Rebecca Ayres.
He confessed to stabbing her 11 times in their home on Holt Street during a heated dispute, which reportedly stemmed from jealousy over her interactions with her son’s father regarding their upcoming christening.
During the proceedings at Manchester Crown Court, it was revealed that King carried out a relentless and vicious attack with a knife, inflicting 11 stab wounds that resulted in her death.
After the assault, he left her body inside the house, went out to drink, and later returned to sleep at the scene, only leaving when her father arrived.
King was subsequently detained and received a life sentence with a minimum term of 15 years.
Judge David Stockdale described him as a jealous, controlling, abusive, and violent individual, and remarked on her family’s description of Rebecca as a hard-working, ambitious, lively person who enjoyed life and was a devoted mother to her three-year-old son.
