KENT MAN SENTENCED FOR DOMESTIC ABUSE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT
A violent Kent domestic abuser Liam Battelle who met a woman online and exerted total control over her life has been incarcerated. Liam Battelle became acquainted with his victim through social media before to their in-person meeting.He swiftly entered the victim’s residence and promptly commenced the assault. Liam Battelle exhibited intense jealousy, frequently accusing her of engaging in other relationships and demanding her to obtain his consent to use her personal phone. He would subsequently sit by her and listen as she placed the call.
His conduct increasingly became domineering, prohibiting the victim from using the bathroom independently or engaging in activities such as utilising her hair straighteners. Liam Battelle threatened to disfigure her with acid if she departed from him, prompting her to withdraw herself from family and close friends.
He was subsequently accused with controlling and coercive behaviour. He was convicted of a sexual assault against another victim in 2019 and was mandated to register as a sex offender.
Liam Battelle, 31, entered a guilty plea at Maidstone Crown Court on Thursday, October 24, and received a sentence of two years and ten months in jail. Upon his release from prison, he will be subjected to a restraining order for a duration of seven years.
